Kampla, Uganda: Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Joseph Put has named a 26-man squad to face Botswana and Algeria in the forthcoming October FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, striking a balance between tested experience and rising youthful talent.
The Cranes will host Botswana on October 9, 2025, before taking on Algeria on October 14, 2025, in two decisive fixtures that could shape Uganda’s qualification hopes.
In the goalkeeping unit, the squad is anchored by Omar Jamal Salim Magoola (Richards Bay, South Africa), veteran Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa), and Alionzi Nafian (Defence Forces, Ethiopia).
The defensive line features Toby Sibbick (Burton Albion, England), Elio Capradossi (Universitatea Cluj, Romania), Jordan Obita (Hibernian, Scotland), Abdu Azizi Kayondo (Slovan Liberec, Czech Republic), alongside local-based talents Rogers Torach and Hilary Mukundane (Vipers SC), and Herbert Achayi with Gavin Kizito (KCCA FC).
In midfield, Paul Put has called up Kenneth Semakula (Al Adalah, Saudi Arabia), Khalid Aucho (Singida United, Tanzania), Allan Oyirwoth (New England Revolution, USA), Enock Ssebagala (Vipers SC), Ronald Ssekiganda (APR FC, Rwanda), and Bobosi Byaruhanga (Oakland Roots, USA).
The Belgian’s attacking force is headlined by Allan Okello (Vipers SC), Denis Omedi (APR FC, Rwanda), Travis Mutyaba (CS Sfaxien, Tunisia), Joseph Mpande (PVF Can Tho, Vietnam), Rogers Mato (FK Vardar, Macedonia), Reagan Mpande (SC Villa), Jude Ssemugabi (Jamus FC, South Sudan), Chukwu Uche Ikpeazu (St. Johnstone, Scotland), and Steven Mukwala (Simba SC, Tanzania).
