Budaka, Uganda: Police in Kamonkoli Town Council, Budaka District, are investigating a violent case of aggravated robbery in which a retired nurse was brutally attacked in her home during the early hours of Thursday morning.

The victim, 64-year-old Beatrice Mugala of Nyanza Cell, reported that at about 1:00 am, five unidentified assailants armed with pangas and hammers stormed her house after smashing a window to gain entry. The attackers stole an Aglucometer machine, which she uses to monitor her blood glucose levels, and 200,000 shillings in cash.

Mugala, who served the community for years as a nurse, said the ordeal left her terrified. “I never expected such violence in my own home. They were dressed in civilian clothes, and I could not recognize any of them,” she recounted.

Police officers from Kamonkoli Police Station, led by Detective Assistant Inspector of Police, AIP Watsala Wily, immediately responded to the scene, recorded statements from the victim and neighbors, and collected evidence.

North Bukedi Police Spokesperson, ASP Kyempasa Wilfred, confirmed the report and noted that investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits. “We are working diligently to gather more information and bring those responsible to justice. The safety of our community is our top priority,” he said.

The incident has sparked fear among residents of Kamonkoli Town Council, with many calling for increased vigilance and stronger neighborhood watch efforts. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity that could help in apprehending the suspects.
