Bajjo sparks controversy after calling Museveni, Bobi Wine “Two Dictators”

Kampala, Uganda: Controversial events promoter Andrew Mukasa, widely known as Bajjo, has reignited political debate after branding both President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) as “two dictators,” a remark that has stirred sharp reactions across Uganda’s political divide.

Speaking during a media appearance, Bajjo accused both leaders of suppressing dissent and prioritizing personal ambitions over national progress. “We are stuck between two dictators. Museveni refuses to leave power, and Bobi Wine has already started behaving like him,” Bajjo asserted, adding that both have created political spaces intolerant of criticism.

The outspoken promoter’s remarks come amid growing disillusionment among sections of the public who feel trapped between entrenched political power and an increasingly combative opposition.

Bajjo further argued that Bobi Wine, who has consistently denounced Museveni’s prolonged rule as dictatorial, now mirrors some of the same traits he once condemned. “They both silence people who disagree with them. The struggle is no longer about the people; it’s about personal control,” he added.

The comment has sparked heated exchanges online, with supporters from both political camps defending their respective leaders and accusing Bajjo of seeking relevance through controversy.

Political observers say Bajjo’s remarks expose deeper frustrations among Ugandans yearning for credible leadership and governance reforms. “Equating Museveni and Bobi Wine reflects a crisis of political trust among the youth. Many feel their choices no longer represent real change,” said political analyst Dr. Patrick Katumba.

This is not Bajjo’s first public spat involving Uganda’s political heavyweights. In past years, he apologized to Bobi Wine for earlier attacks and denied allegations of receiving money from the ruling NRM government to undermine the opposition.

Neither State House nor Bobi Wine’s camp has officially responded to Bajjo’s latest comments.

As the debate intensifies, analysts say the incident underscores Uganda’s fragile political atmosphere and the widening frustration among citizens over the nation’s leadership choices ahead of the 2026 general elections.
