Speaker Among urges Busoga to turn peace into prosperity through wealth creation

Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among joins Buyende District NRM supporters in jubilation during a mobilisation rally ahead of President Museveni’s planned visit to Busoga Sub-region.

Buyende, Uganda: The Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, who also doubles as the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among has rallied the people of Busoga Sub-region to embrace the government’s wealth creation programmes and consolidate the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s expected visit to the area.

Addressing a charged crowd in Buyende District on Monday, October 06, Rt Hon Among delivered a bold message on economic empowerment, urging citizens to turn peace into prosperity by fully engaging with the NRM’s socio-economic transformation initiatives.

“The NRM Government has laid the foundation for peace and stability, but the next step is for every household in Busoga to convert that peace into prosperity,” she said. “The President’s wealth creation models are not just policies; they are tools handed to you to eradicate poverty.”

She emphasised her personal role as a member of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) in ensuring that the government’s wealth creation resources reach and benefit the grassroots communities.

Driving the Wealth Creation Gospel

Hon Among’s address went beyond political mobilisation to focus on practical solutions for household income generation. She highlighted the government’s programmes under Operation Wealth Creation, Parish Development Model, and other skilling initiatives, encouraging residents to make use of them to improve livelihoods.

“As your leader on the CEC, my task is to make sure the people of Buyende and Busoga fully benefit from the opportunities our government has put in place.”

Ms Among also paid tribute to President Museveni for his visionary leadership that, she said, transformed Uganda from instability to peace and progress. “The stability we enjoy today is the bedrock upon which our prosperity will be built,” she said, calling on the people of Busoga to rally behind the President’s candidature to ensure continuity of the NRM’s transformative agenda.

The Buyende rally is the latest in a string of mobilisation drives by the Speaker across Uganda. In recent months, she has traversed regions including Teso, Lango, and Northern Uganda, calling for unity among NRM supporters and renewed focus on job creation and household transformation.

Her efforts have been widely interpreted as strengthening the NRM’s grassroots base and harmonising the party’s message ahead of the 2026 elections. Among’s strong advocacy for commercial agriculture and youth enterprise reflects the President’s vision for self-sustaining families and aligns with the party’s broader “Household Wealth, National Growth” campaign theme.
