Kampala, Uganda: Controversial musician Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, has resurfaced in the public eye following his recent release from custody, this time with a political message urging Ugandan youth to exercise their freedom in next year’s general elections.
Speaking to fans over the weekend, the Sitya Danger hitmaker said young people should vote for candidates of their choice, stressing that their votes will shape their future and should not be influenced by anyone.
“We are soon going for elections, and my message to you all is that go out and vote candidates of your own choice. It’s not about me, it’s you, and you are free to do whatever you like with your vote — you can even spoil it,” Alien Skin said.
Alien Skin, who has been embroiled in public confrontations with National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters, recently made headlines after endorsing President Museveni at the Kololo nomination rally, marking a sharp turn from his earlier association with Mathias Mpuuga’s Democratic Front.
Earlier this year, the artist also stormed the NUP headquarters in Makerere–Kavule, sparking controversy among opposition supporters who accused him of betrayal and political opportunism.
Despite the backlash, Alien Skin insists that the youth must remain independent-minded and not be swayed by political or celebrity influence. “Let everyone think for themselves. Don’t let anyone tell you who to vote for,” he added.
