Zombo, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has credited the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) principles for sustaining peace across Uganda, while addressing a rally in Zombo District on Saturday evening.
Speaking to a large crowd at Zombo Upper Primary School grounds on Saturday, Museveni emphasized the importance of national unity, arguing that peace is only possible when sectarianism based on religion or tribal affiliation is rejected.
“For the first time in a long time, there is peace in the whole of Uganda, largely due to the principles of the NRM,” he said. “A key factor in this peace is our ideology of rejecting sectarianism based on religion or tribes. If you support sectarianism based on tribes or religion, how can you effectively build a national army?”

The President also acknowledged concerns raised by the people of Zombo, including the need for a district hospital and better road infrastructure. He assured residents that the government would take steps to address these issues.
Museveni’s Zombo rally forms part of his ongoing campaign trail in the West Nile subregion, where he has highlighted the NRM’s development record, social cohesion efforts, and commitment to public service delivery.
The President will resume campaigning next week on Monday, October 13, with rallies in Obongi and Madi-Okollo Districts, and on Tuesday in Yumbe and Koboko.
