Maracha, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed the people of Maracha and Koboko for their overwhelming support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to completing major road, education, and infrastructure projects across West Nile.

Addressing thousands of supporters at two separate rallies on Tuesday, the President praised residents for sustaining the peace and development achieved under the NRM government and urged them to consolidate these gains by voting the party back to power in 2026.

In Maracha at Nyadri Urban SS grounds, President Museveni highlighted the government’s investment in education, noting that the district now has 62 government primary schools and 7 government secondary schools, alongside several private institutions.

He reminded school administrators against reintroducing illegal charges in Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programs. “You remember when we introduced free education, some school authorities started reintroducing charges, making it difficult for children from poor families to study,” Museveni said.

The President cited the Industrial Skilling Hubs established under State House as examples of free and practical training that empowers youth with employable skills.

On infrastructure, Mr Museveni acknowledged the challenges of limited funds but said the government has made significant progress in road construction.

“We struggled to tarmac Karuma all the way to Koboko, even when funds were limited. We are now planning to work on the road from Atiak–Adjumani to Moyo, and those from Panyimur to Pakwach, then to Rhino Camp and Wanyara, followed by the road from Terego to Moyo,” he said, urging the people of Maracha to vote NRM in 2026 to sustain ongoing development projects and unlock new ones.

In Koboko District at Ombachi College grounds, President Museveni commended the region’s transformation, saying the Parish Development Model (PDM) had injected Shs18.2 billion, benefiting more than 18,000 households who have now joined the money economy.

“On Economic and Social Infrastructure, access to safe water has now reached 79% of villages, and I am glad to note that the electricity, as you can see, has arrived, powering homes, schools, and businesses,” he added.

Museveni said the district currently has 59 government primary schools, 6 government secondary schools, and 2 new seed schools under construction to ensure every sub-county has one.

“Awa’difo Koboko for the warm welcome Maama Janet and I received today. Koboko’s transformation is proof of the NRM’s steady gains – building peace, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that every household can participate in Uganda’s growth,” the President said.

Museveni is expected to take a break on his trail tomorrow (Wednesday), with the campaign rallies set to resume on Thursday, October 16, in Yumbe and Moyo.
