Mukono, Uganda: The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has called on Ugandan factory workers to embrace government empowerment initiatives as a key step toward achieving President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s wealth creation vision.

During her mobilization tour across Mukono District, Hajjat Namyalo visited Dembe Trading Enterprises Ltd, Wilma International Ltd, and Ledon Sunshine Lighting Co. Ltd, three major factories employing thousands of Ugandans.

The visits were coordinated by Mukono North NRM Flag Bearer Hon. Ronald Kibuule, Nama Subcounty Chairperson Ssalongo Mutiibwa Dickson Nkajja, and ONC Mukono Municipality Coordinator Wamala John Baptist.

At Dembe Trading Enterprises Ltd, one of East Africa’s largest distributors of fast-moving consumer goods, the Chief of Operations, Mr. Simon Luvunya, and Human Resource Manager, Mr. Ahmed Khamis, commended Hajjat for engaging directly with workers and promoting the President’s empowerment agenda.

Speaking to hundreds of workers, Hajjat Namyalo urged them to organize themselves into SACCOs to benefit from ONC empowerment packages and other government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Youth Livelihood Fund.

“You may earn little today, but you can work your way out of poverty by forming SACCOs. When you’re organized, government programs reach you directly and transform your livelihoods,” Hajjat Namyalo advised.

“Her visit gives our workers hope that government cares about their welfare,” Mr. Luvunya said, urging the ONC boss to help raise their concerns to His Excellency for an actionable plan.

At Wilma International Ltd, a major manufacturer of plastic and sewable sacks from recycled materials, workers voiced concerns about low pay and welfare challenges. Hajjat pledged to relay their grievances to the relevant authorities, reaffirming her commitment to advocate for improved labor standards.

“I will engage H.E. Jajja wa’Bazzukulu about the need for a minimum wage and better working conditions for factory workers. You are the backbone of our industrial sector, and your welfare must reflect that,” she said.

She emphasized that her mobilization mission, entrusted by President Museveni, is rooted in empowering ordinary citizens to join the money economy and live dignified lives.

The ONC Boss concluded her field engagements at Ledon Sunshine Lighting Co., Ltd in Namataba Town Council, where she met over 1,000 employees and Chinese investors assembling lighting bulbs, phone chargers, solar lights, and other electrical products.

Workers here echoed similar appeals for fair wages and improved welfare. In response, Hajjat assured them that their concerns would be delivered to the President. “We cannot talk about national growth when those driving production are struggling. I will personally deliver your message to Jajja so that no Ugandan worker is left behind,” she pledged.

The mobilization tour forms part of the ONC’s ongoing grassroots campaign to rally key labor and industrial sectors behind President Museveni’s 2026 re-election bid. It aligns with the NRM’s four core principles, Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socioeconomic Transformation, and Democracy, with ONC serving as the operational arm connecting citizens to the President’s empowerment agenda.

President Museveni is expected to visit the Greater Mukono Sub-region in early January 2026 as part of his final campaign leg ahead of the general elections.
