Namisindwa, Uganda: National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has launched a fierce verbal attack on Bubulo East MP John Musila, branding him a “fake rasta” and accusing him of betraying the principles of honesty and justice.

While campaigning in Namisindwa District on Wednesday, October 15, Kyagulanyi was reportedly blocked from holding his rally at Lwakhakha Playground and instead directed to Bukhaweka Playground, a more remote location.

Addressing supporters at the new venue, Kyagulanyi tore into Musila’s political conduct, saying that “a real rasta cannot be in bed with dictators or preside over an area with poor roads.” He referenced reggae legend Bob Marley, arguing that true rastas fight for justice and equality, not for self-gain.

“Bob Marley taught us about equal rights and justice. Real rastas fight for others, not for themselves,” Kyagulanyi said to cheers from the crowd. He further accused Musila of spending more time attacking NUP on Kampala-based media than addressing the concerns of his constituents.

During a stopover at Magale Trading Centre, Musila’s hometown, Kyagulanyi unveiled Simiyu Eid as NUP’s official flag bearer for Bubulo East, describing him as “the ideal candidate to deliver the change the people deserve.”

Kyagulanyi vowed that once NUP assumes power, his government will prioritize fixing poor road networks, fighting corruption, and restoring accountability in public service.

When contacted for a response, Hon. John Musila dismissed Kyagulanyi’s remarks as “expected,” describing the opposition leader as “habitually abusive.” He questioned the decision by security authorities to grant Kyagulanyi multiple stopovers, saying it amounted to unnecessary publicity.

“President Museveni will hold just one rally in the district without stopovers, the same as Nandala. So who exactly are the security forces working for?” Musila remarked.
