Jinja, Uganda: BUL Women FC head coach James Magala has expressed confidence that his team can secure promotion to Uganda’s top-flight women’s league at the first attempt as they gear up for the 2025/2026 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League.
“We have had a solid build-up to the season. The six practice games have provided valuable insight into our strengths, and we are hopeful about our chances. We are aware of the challenges ahead, but our target is to top the group in our debut season and earn promotion to the top tier. We shall take each game as a final, and I hope the players replicate the performances displayed in the practice matches,” Magala said.
BUL Women FC was established in line with FUFA’s Club Licensing Regulations, which require every Uganda Premier League club to operate a women’s team competing in either the FUFA Women Super League or the Women Elite League.
The Eastern Uganda side will compete in the Victoria Group, starting their campaign away to Ateker WFC at Soroti Sports Ground on Sunday, 19th October.

The squad has been strengthened with experienced players, including forwards Ritah Wanyenze and Hadijah Balinabyo, and midfielder Tracy Margret Balimweza, the younger sister of Crested Cranes star Joan Nabirye.
The Victoria Group also features Ateker WFC, Gold Star Ladies FC, Pabo United WFC, UCU Lady Cardinals FC, Highway Ladies FC, Lira City Queens FC, and Jinja United WFC. Only the group leader after a home-and-away round will earn promotion to the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
This season marks the start of an expanded 16-team format, up from 14, divided into two groups—Elizabeth and Victoria—based on geographical regions. The league officially kicks off on Saturday, 18th October, with matches scheduled across the country.
