Man, 21, arrested over aggravated defilement of 3-year-old child

Kamuli, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Busoga North Region are holding in custody a 21-year-old man arrested over the aggravated defilement and trafficking of a three-year-old baby in Bulunga Village, Butansi Sub-county, Kamuli District.

The incident is said to have occurred on Monday, October 13, 2025, at around 2:00 pm when a complainant heard distressing sounds from the suspect’s residence. Upon checking, the man was found in suspicious circumstances with the minor, and the matter was immediately reported to local authorities, who referred it to Kamuli Police for further investigation.

Busoga North police spokesperson Mr Samson Lubega condemned the acts of sexual violence and assured the public that the suspect will face the full weight of the law.

He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant, keep a close watch on their children, and report any form of abuse or suspicious behaviour to local authorities.

DailyExpress also learnt that police have already opened a formal case file under Kamuli jurisdiction, recorded statements from key witnesses, and conducted a medical examination of the victim.

Relevant exhibits were recovered, and forensic samples, including vaginal swabs and the suspect’s clothing, have been collected for submission to the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL).

“We continue to urge the community to report any form of child abuse to the nearest police station or local authorities,” Mr Lubega said, emphasizing that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure justice is served and the case is handled with the utmost seriousness.

The suspect remains in custody as police also plan a scene-of-crime visit to gather additional evidence.
