Namayingo, Uganda: The territorial police in Namayingo District are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl, identified as Namuwaya Madina, a resident of Bulamba B Cell in Namayingo Town Council.
According to police, the accident occurred on Friday evening, October 17, 2025, at around 5:00 pm along the Musita–Namayingo road at Bulamba B Cell. It involved a Volkswagen Golf registration number KBB 135M, which was heading from Jinja to Namayingo, and an unidentified motorcycle.
ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga East Police Spokesperson, said preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle, driven by Okonda Wilfred, a Kenyan national and Human Resource Officer with UNICEF, lost control, hit the motorcycle from the rear, veered off the road, and fatally knocked the pedestrian before crashing into an electric pole.
“Initial findings suggest that a speeding motor vehicle being driven by Okonda Wilfred lost control at Bulamba B cell and hit an unknown motorcycle from the rear, veered off the road and knocked a pedestrian dead before resting on a roadside electric pole,” ASP Kasadha stated in a Friday evening report.
Police officers led by the District Police Commander (DPC) responded swiftly to the scene, conveyed the body to Buyinja Health Centre IV mortuary for postmortem, and towed the wreckage of the car to Namayingo Central Police Station (CPS) pending inspection. Efforts to trace the motorcycle involved in the crash are ongoing.
Kasadha appealed to motorists and road users to observe maximum discipline and caution while on the road to prevent such tragic incidents.
