Bududa, Uganda: Kampala-based lawyer and businessman Counsel Peter Kituno Wamboko has pledged to lobby for investors, development partners, and improved service delivery if elected as Member of Parliament for Bushigai Constituency in Bududa District.
Speaking to DailyExpress over the weekend, Wamboko – who practices with Madibo Mafabi Advocates & Solicitors, said Bududa’s unique location at the slopes of Mt. Elgon and proximity to the Lwakhakha Border Post with Kenya offers unmatched potential for tourism and cross-border trade.
“The strategic location of Bududa puts the district at an advantageous position as an investment destination for tourism and cross-border business with Kenya,” Wamboko explained.
Running under the campaign theme “Redirecting Our Future,” Wamboko is preparing for his official nomination scheduled for Thursday, October 23, at the Bududa District Electoral Commission Office in Manjiya Town Council, starting at 11:00 a.m. His nomination comes as the Electoral Commission finalizes arrangements for the 2025/2026 general election nominations for MPs and Local Council leaders.
Wamboko, who previously contested for the same seat in 2016 and 2021 as an independent candidate, lost to former Minister Hon. Wakikona Wanendeya David. This time, he says his bid is rooted in the people’s aspirations and their daily struggles.

“I stand before them not as a candidate but as their son, brother, and servant. I know the challenges we face every day, poor roads, lack of clean water, struggling schools, and unemployed youth,” he said.
“I want to be their voice in Parliament, a voice for farmers, women, the youth, and every hardworking family in Bushigai. Together we can bring real change and equal opportunities for all,” he added.
Wamboko also urged unity and collective effort among voters, promising an inclusive approach to development and governance.
“I ask them to walk this journey with me; with unity, integrity, and hard work. Bushigai can rise again,” he emphasized.
If nominated, Counsel Wamboko is expected to face stiff competition from former RDC Kigai Moses Wamoto, Wabusani Steven, former Bududa LC5 Chairperson Watila Wilson, and Mabala Natala, among others.
