2025 Buganda Masaza Cup Semifinals (2nd Leg)
Kyaggwe 0-1 Buweekula (Aggregate 2-2) (4-3 on penalties)
Ssingo 0-0 Bugerere (Aggregate: 2-1)
Kampala, Uganda: Buweekula and Ssingo Counties Sunday sealed their places in the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup final, setting up a thrilling all–Ssingo derby showdown at the newly refurbished Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on November 1, 2025.
In the respective semifinals, Buweekula edged Kyaggwe 4–2 on penalties after their two-legged tie ended 2–2 on aggregate. The visitors, coached by Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza, won the return leg 1–0 at Bishops SS playgrounds in Mukono, courtesy of a second-half free kick from Colline Ssemanda, which forced the match into spot-kicks.
Kyaggwe faltered in the shoot-out as Calvin Peter Emayo blasted over the bar and Julius Kalule struck the post, while Buweekula’s quartet of Alfred Ssebunya, captain Calvin Pariyo Ogubezo, Feni Eriyeza, and Collins Ssemanda all converted to seal their historic final berth.
Meanwhile, Ssingo booked their slot after a goalless draw with Bugerere at Mityana Ssaza Ground, progressing 2–1 on aggregate following their victory in the first leg at Ntenjeru Playgrounds, Kayunga.
The clash between Buweekula and Ssingo; two neighbouring and traditional rivals, is expected to pull a massive crowd to Nakivubo as the Buganda Kingdom’s premier football showpiece returns to one of Uganda’s most iconic stadiums. The third-place playoff between Kyaggwe and Bugerere will also precede the grand finale.
Since its inception in 2004, the Masaza Cup has become a cornerstone of local football, offering young players a platform to showcase talent across Buganda’s counties. The competition bars national team stars and players from the FUFA Big League or Uganda Premier League, maintaining its amateur spirit and focus on grassroots development.
Gomba remain the record champions with five titles, making them the most successful side in the competition’s history.
