Counsel Ndyakira ‘Kinawolovu’ to be nominated Thursday for Bushenyi–Ishaka MP seat

Counsel Ndyakira Nicholas Muhereza (Kinawolovu) will be officially nominated on Thursday, Ocotber 23, 2025, as an Independent candidate for Bushenyi–Ishaka Municipality MP seat.

Bushenyi, Uganda: Counsel Ndyakira Nicholas Muhereza, popularly known as Kinawolovu, is set to be officially nominated this Thursday, 23rd October 2025, as an Independent candidate for Member of Parliament, Bushenyi–Ishaka Municipality, ahead of the 2026 general elections.

According to Kinawolovu‘s campaign team, the nomination at the Bushenyi District Electoral Commission offices will be followed by a press conference and radio talk show in Bushenyi, where he is expected to unveil his legislative priorities and reaffirm his commitment to people-centered leadership.

Counsel Ndyakira, a renowned advocate and youth leader, recently contested in the NRM Primaries held on July 17, 2025, but was edged out by Iddi Basajja in a tightly contested race. His subsequent petition to the party’s Electoral Tribunal did not yield the outcome he hoped for.

However, after weeks of consultations and overwhelming calls from constituents urging him to stay in the race, Kinawolovu later announced that he would stand as an independent, citing his desire to uphold the will of the people over partisan divisions.

“I have listened to the voice of the electorate,” Ndyakira said in a statement. “This campaign is not about colours or party labels, it is about service, accountability, and the aspirations of Bushenyi–Ishaka. The people have placed the ball in our hands, and together we will score for our community.”

Symbol of Unity and Progress – The Ball ⚽

Running under the symbol of a ball, Ndyakira says the emblem represents teamwork, discipline, and fair play, values he promises to champion both in Parliament and in his engagement with the youth. “The ball signifies participation and teamwork. Everyone matters in this game. When we pass the ball, we move forward together,” he emphasized.

Kinawolovu’s manifesto, which builds on his five-point “Bushenyi Rebirth Agenda”, focuses on youth and women empowerment, infrastructure improvement, agricultural modernization, enhanced education access, and accountable governance.

His upcoming press conference is expected to outline concrete strategies to tackle unemployment, improve service delivery, and rebuild public trust in leadership.

Supporters across Bushenyi–Ishaka have welcomed his nomination as a sign of renewed hope and a new political awakening for the municipality. His team described Thursday’s nomination as “a victory for people-driven politics and the beginning of a new chapter.”

“Our campaign is for everyone who believes that politics should unite, not divide,” said Joseph Karugaba, one of his coordinators. “Thursday’s nomination is not just for Kinawolovu, it’s for every young person who believes they can make a difference.”

Counsel Ndyakira Nicholas Muhereza’s nomination on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, will officially mark the start of his bid to represent Bushenyi–Ishaka Municipality in the 12th Parliament of Uganda.
