Masibo withdraws from Bubulo East race, pledges allegiance to NRM flagbearers

Amos Masibo has quit the race for Bubulo East MP citing internal party challenges

Namisindwa, Uganda: Former Bubulo East MP aspirant Amos Masibo has officially withdrawn from the 2026 parliamentary race, pledging his full support to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM flagbearers in Namisindwa District.

Masibo, who lost the NRM primary to incumbent Hon. John Musila with 23,500 votes, announced his decision on Tuesday afternoon during a meeting with supporters at Kabukwesi PAG Church. He cited internal challenges and divisions that, he said, had created an “environment unsuitable for a peaceful and focused campaign.”

“I have taken this decision after deep reflection and with a heavy heart. Leadership is not about positions, but about purpose — serving people with integrity and promoting unity,” Masibo told the gathering.

He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and disclosed that NRM LCV flagbearer Emmah Bwayo had appointed him as his official campaign agent.

“I am not stepping away from service; I am stepping forward into a new role that promotes unity and collective victory,” he emphasized.

During the same meeting, Emmah Bwayo commended Masibo for putting party interests above personal ambition, describing his move as “a mark of maturity and loyalty.”

“This is not the end of his political journey, but a redirection of his mission for the greater good of Bubulo East and Uganda,” Bwayo said.

Khalayi Peace, the NRM Woman MP flagbearer for Namisindwa, also praised Masibo’s decision and urged his supporters to remain steadfast in the ruling party’s cause.

“We appreciate Hon. Masibo’s humility and his supporters’ loyalty. Let’s continue standing with the party and our President,” Khalayi said.

The Bubulo East race will now feature NRM’s John Musila, FDC’s Wesonga Daniel, NUP’s Simiyu Eid, and independents Sakwa George and Col. Walukano Jerad Ndiwa.

Nominations for Members of Parliament are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week.
