Bududa, Uganda: The people of Bududa poured into the streets in celebration on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, as Kevinah Nabutuwa was officially nominated as an independent candidate for Woman Member of Parliament, marking a defiant comeback after what supporters call “political injustice” in the recent NRM primaries.
Hon. Nabutuwa, who had been widely expected to carry the NRM flag, was controversially denied victory despite clear evidence from polling stations showing she had won. The flag was instead handed to another contestant — a move that left her camp accusing the district party leadership of bias and manipulation.
Sources close to the process claim the declared flag bearer is a relative of the district NRM registrar, a revelation that further deepened anger among Nabutuwa’s supporters. Even the declared flag bearer, insiders say, privately admitted she was surprised to be announced winner, knowing Hon. Nabutuwa had garnered the majority vote.
Determined not to surrender to what she called “injustice and betrayal,” Hon. Nabutuwa took the independent route — a decision that has since galvanized the district. Residents across Bududa have united behind her campaign, describing her as “the people’s voice and symbol of true leadership.”
Her nomination day turned into a massive procession as thousands of jubilant supporters escorted her to the Electoral Commission offices, waving placards reading “Our Leader, Our Choice” and “Bududa Believes in Kevinah.”

Addressing her supporters shortly after nomination, Hon. Nabutuwa said her decision was driven by truth and accountability.
“I am standing here not because of power, but because of the people who believe in truth, justice, and progress. Together, we shall build a better Bududa,” she said to thunderous applause.
Known for her hands-on leadership, Hon. Nabutuwa has championed women and youth empowerment, agricultural development, and education support initiatives across Bududa. Her community-centered approach and track record of integrity have positioned her as a strong contender in the forthcoming general elections.

As campaigns kick off, one message resounds across Bududa — the people are standing with Hon. Kevinah Nabutuwa, a leader they believe embodies courage, service, and the spirit of resilience.
