Kampala, Uganda: The City Oilers are now just one win away from claiming their 11th consecutive National Basketball League (NBL) title after defeating the Nam Blazers 90–83 in a thrilling Game Two encounter on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The defending champions, who won Game One of the best-of-seven finals series, once again showcased their trademark resilience, overcoming a third-quarter deficit to seal a crucial win and take a commanding 2–0 series lead.

After narrowly edging the first quarter 24–23, the Oilers fell behind 69–64 heading into the final period. However, a spirited fourth-quarter rally saw them outscore the Blazers 26–14, with Kurt-Curry Wegscheider leading the charge with a game-high 37 points. Chad Bowie added 16 points to secure the Oilers’ hard-fought victory.

“We knew it was going to be tough, but we stayed composed,” said Bowie after the game. “Championships are won through execution under pressure, and that’s what we did tonight.”

Blazers Falter Despite Strong Effort

The Nam Blazers produced a competitive performance but failed to capitalize on key moments, committing 19 turnovers and struggling from beyond the arc — managing just 4-of-24 three-pointers.

Despite Anthony Chuckwurah registering a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds and Innocent Ochera scoring 23 points, their efforts weren’t enough to overcome the Oilers’ composure in the final minutes.

The Blazers did dominate the boards with a 57–39 rebounding edge and had 34 points off the bench, but their shooting inefficiency and turnovers ultimately proved costly.

Game Three of the series will be played on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, where the Oilers will be aiming to close out the series and capture yet another championship.

JKL Lady Dolphins Level Women’s Finals Series

In the Women’s National Basketball League, the JKL Lady Dolphins bounced back strongly to level their finals series after defeating the JT Lady Jaguars 52–38 in Game Two, also played on Sunday at Lugogo.

After losing Game One, JKL displayed defensive discipline and offensive balance, taking an 11–6 first-quarter lead and never looking back.

Hope Akello was the star of the night, recording a brilliant double-double of 16 points and 21 rebounds, while Brenda Ekone contributed 14 points in the dominant victory.

The Lady Jaguars struggled offensively, with Sarah Ageno and Aziida Nabayunga top-scoring with just seven points each. Their shooting woes continued throughout the game, making only 2-of-25 from three-point range and 6-of-18 from the free-throw line.

The win tied the best-of-seven finals 1–1, setting up a crucial Game Three showdown on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
