Kasolo, Gen Rwashande rally Buganda behind Museveni ahead of 2026 Polls

Hon. Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo and Gen. (Rtd.) Emmanuel Rwashande welcome NUP supporters who crossed to join the NRM party during the Buganda Ku Museveni rally held in Ntusi Town Council, Ssembabule District, on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Ssembabule, Uganda: The National Resistance Movement Vice Chairman for Central Buganda, Hon. Min. Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo and Lwemiyaga Constituency NRM flag bearer Gen. (Rtd.) Emmanuel Rwashande have rallied the Buganda region to unite behind President Museveni and ruling party candidates as the country heads toward the 2026 general elections.

Speaking during the Buganda Ku Museveni rally held in Ntusi Town Council, Sembabule District, on Sunday, October 26, Hon Kasolo led calls for renewed unity, discipline, and coordinated mobilization to consolidate the ruling party’s dominance in Buganda.

Delivering the keynote address, he called on former NRM aspirants to abandon independent bids and reaffirm party discipline, and cautioned that those defying the party position would be excluded from NRM meetings, saying the 2026 elections require unity of purpose.

Mr Kasolo outlined the party’s development blueprint for Buganda, promising a Health Centre III in every sub-county, a Health Centre IV in every constituency, and a hospital in each district. He also pledged a government secondary school in every sub-county, a primary school in every parish, and a technical institute in every district.

“Our focus is to take government services closer to the people. When you vote NRM, you are voting for better roads, hospitals, schools, and electricity,” he told the crowd.

He further encouraged residents to take advantage of government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, revealing that the government plans to increase PDM funding in the next term to boost household incomes.

Addressing persistent power outages in the area, Kasolo assured residents that he would escalate the issue to the Energy Ministry and ensure improved electricity distribution to rural households.

Deputy RDC Faizo Seruwagi urged residents to maintain calm and discipline during the campaign season, assuring the public of enhanced security. He commended NRM District Chairperson Gen. (Rtd.) Phenehansi Katirima for strengthening coordination between local leaders and the President’s Office.

In her address, Gen. Katirima urged residents to vote for Museveni and all NRM flag bearers, noting that the ongoing Lusalira–Ntusi–Sembabule road construction demonstrates the President’s commitment to improving infrastructure and boosting local trade.

The rally drew several NRM leaders, including MPs, district officials, and flag bearers, in a strong display of regional solidarity. It was hosted by Gen. (Rtd.) Rwashande, who emphasized service delivery, land reform, and grassroots development as key pillars of the NRM’s message ahead of 2026.

Gen. Rwashande reaffirmed his loyalty to the NRM and expressed gratitude to Mr. Tumusime, a former NUP flag bearer, for stepping down in his favor and joining the ruling party. He called for the establishment of a special land court in Lwemiyaga to address land-grabbing cases and appealed for government support to facilitate ranch land buyouts for bibanja holders.

Hon. Kabanda David, Secretary General of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), declared Sembabule an NRM stronghold, urging voters to “chase opposition” from the district to maintain smooth service delivery. “How can NUP even have a poster in Sembabule, which is well-known as an NRM stronghold?” Kabanda asked, drawing applause from the crowd.

The Buganda Ku Museveni rally ended with a renewed pledge from NRM leaders to strengthen unity and advance President Museveni’s development agenda, positioning Buganda as a key region for NRM victory in 2026.
