Kamuli, Uganda: An American philanthropist, Mr John Jibing, through a local NGO (Kamuli People Integral Development Association (KAPIDA)), has donated a multimillion-shilling girls’ dormitory to Kamuli Township Primary School, underscoring his commitment to keeping young girls in school.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Mr Jibing said his partnership with the people of Kamuli and his colleagues in the USA inspired the initiative aimed at improving the learning environment for girls.
“It is through friendship and a good relationship with the people of Uganda that we mobilized funds from our partners in the USA to construct this dormitory. Our goal is to ensure that young girls stay in school and study in a safe and conducive environment,” Jibing stated.
The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kamuli, Mr John Batambuze, who presided over the event, urged teachers to support the ruling NRM government, noting that their continued cooperation would help achieve salary enhancements and other education sector priorities.
“We know teachers are demanding salary enhancement, and if you want your dream to come true, vote for the NRM government in the coming elections,” Batambuze said.
Meanwhile, Kamuli District LCV NRM flag bearer, Ms Dhizaala Kalori, commended the government of Uganda for working hand in hand with local NGOs to bridge service delivery gaps in the education and social development sectors.
“I thank the government of Uganda for allowing NGOs to participate in national development efforts. Partnerships like this strengthen our education system and empower our children,” Kalori remarked.

The school headteacher, Mr Benge David, expressed gratitude to the donor, local authorities, and KAPIDA for their continued support, noting that the new facility will greatly improve safety and retention rates among girls.
The dormitory was officially named after Ms Josephine Dhizaala, a close friend of the donor and an alumna of Kamuli Township Primary School.
