Kampala, Uganda: Police have launched investigations into the mysterious death of 25-year-old Caroline Nalubwama, who reportedly died after sustaining serious injuries at the home of city socialite Bryan Kirumira, popularly known as Bryan White, in Kyamula, Makindye Division, Kampala.
According to Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Nalubwama was rushed to Kiruddu Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
“Preliminary information indicates that the deceased was at the home of Mr. Bryan Kirumira alias Bryan White when the incident occurred,” Owoyesigyire said. “She was later rushed to Kiruddu Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.”
Detectives have examined the crime scene, collected exhibits, and transferred the body to City Mortuary, Mulago, for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police confirmed that Bryan White, who also sustained injuries, is currently receiving medical treatment and has recorded a statement to assist with ongoing investigations.
“Efforts are underway to retrieve CCTV footage and interview additional witnesses to piece together the actual sequence of events,” ASP Owoyesigyire added, noting that updates will be provided as investigations progress.
Bryan White, 38, shot to fame in 2017 after launching the Bryan White Foundation, which gained traction through cash giveaways, lavish donations, and celebrity endorsements. However, his glittering rise was soon clouded by a string of sexual abuse and human trafficking allegations.
In 2021, the Parliament’s Human Rights Committee recommended his arrest over accusations that he exploited a 17-year-old girl, though no conviction was made. Since then, the once high-flying socialite had kept a low profile — until this latest incident thrust him back into public scrutiny.
Uganda continues to grapple with a surge in homicide-related cases. According to the 2024 Uganda Police Annual Crime Report, at least 4,329 homicide cases were recorded that year — averaging 12 killings per day.
While overall crime declined by 4.1%, the report cites domestic violence, mob justice, and land disputes as the leading causes of fatal incidents.
