Museveni wraps up Teso Campaign today, to kick off Bugisu trail with Sironko rally

President Yoweri Museveni is set to conclude his Teso sub-region campaign at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea today before heading to Sironko to begin his Bugisu sub-region engagements.

Bukedea, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni today concludes his Teso sub-region campaign trail with a grand rally at Emokori Boma Grounds in Bukedea District this afternoon, marking the end of his week-long engagements in the region before heading to Bugisu sub-region, where he is expected to hold his first rally in Sironko District later in the day.

The President, who has spent the past several days traversing Kaberamaido, Katakwi, Kalaki, Serere, Soroti, Kumi, Ngora, and Bukedea, has used all his rallies during the Teso campaign trail to rally NRM supporters around the themes of peace, wealth creation, infrastructure growth, and household transformation.

Speaking to leaders and residents during earlier stopovers, Museveni emphasized that peace remains the foundation of development, crediting the NRM’s historical role in stabilizing the Teso sub-region after years of insecurity and cattle rustling.

“The first contribution of the NRM was peace. I remember when the people of Teso were living in camps because of insecurity and cattle rustling. Today, that is history. We defeated the rebels and restored peace. That is why our people are now settled and working productively,” Museveni told supporters at Kalaki last week.

As he wraps up his tour in Teso today, President Museveni continues to emphasize wealth creation through programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), urging leaders to ensure that government funds directly benefit the intended households.

“Government can build roads, schools, and hospitals, but if families don’t engage in income-generating activities, poverty will persist. Every household should be able to sustain itself through productive enterprise,” he said at Serere rally.

He has also cautioned against corruption and mismanagement of public funds, urging district leaders to maintain transparency in all community development programs.

President Museveni also hailed the ongoing infrastructure development projects in Teso, citing the Soroti–Katakwi–Moroto road, electricity extension programs, and new educational facilities as evidence of the NRM’s commitment to inclusive growth.

“We are working to ensure every sub-county is connected by a good road network. The Soroti–Moroto Road is complete, and more feeder roads are planned to connect farmers to markets,” he said while addressing NRM supporters at Soroti sports grounds this week.

The President also reaffirmed government plans to improve health services and education, particularly through the construction of secondary schools in sub-counties without one, to enhance access and equity.

Bugisu Trail Begins in Sironko

After concluding the Bukedea rally at Emokori Grounds this afternoon, President Museveni will immediately proceed to Sironko District to launch his Bugisu sub-region campaign trail, which will cover several districts, including Namisindwa, Manafwa, Mbale, and Bududa, in the coming days.

The Bugisu engagements are expected to center on the NRM’s infrastructure development record, mountain area livelihood programs, and efforts to combat poverty through coffee, dairy, and horticulture enterprises.
