Kotido, Uganda: The North Eastern Regional Football League (NEFRA) served up pure excitement on Sunday as Obule Earthquake FC stunned home side Agape FC with a 3–1 victory at Kotido Boma Grounds, in a match that left fans on their feet from kickoff to the final whistle.
The visitors delivered a masterclass in tactical discipline and attacking efficiency, with star striker Emmanuel Inangolet leading the charge through two brilliant goals, including a first-half volley that silenced the home crowd.
From the onset, Obule Earthquake FC displayed superior ball control and clinical finishing, unsettling Agape’s defence and dictating the tempo. The visitors sealed their dominance midway through the second half with a third goal before Agape managed a late consolation strike in the dying minutes.
“We came here determined to win. The team gave its all, and I’m proud to score for the fans and the club,” said Inangolet, whose performance earned him chants of praise from both home and away supporters.
Despite the defeat, Agape FC showed flashes of resilience, with their late goal restoring pride among their loyal fans.
“We faced challenges today, but this is part of the game. We’ll go back to the drawing board, train harder, and come back stronger,” said Head Coach Lomuria Clement, after admitting his team struggled to cope with Obule’s high-press style.
Crowd Passion and Team Spirit Shine Through
The atmosphere at Kotido Boma Grounds was electric, with hundreds of fans turning up in colourful jerseys, waving flags and cheering throughout the match.
Team captain Kalule Mugisha commended the fans for their unwavering support. “The turnout was amazing. Even though we lost, the energy from the crowd gives us hope for better results next time,” Mugisha said.
Meanwhile, Obule Earthquake’s Head Coach, Ronald Elianu, praised his players for their discipline and teamwork. “The boys executed our game plan perfectly. We respected our opponents, but we also came hungry for victory. This win shows how far we’ve come as a team,” said Coach Elianu.
The emphatic victory propels Obule Earthquake FC up the NEFRA League table, strengthening their campaign for regional dominance, while Agape FC must now regroup and tighten their defence ahead of upcoming fixtures.
As fans poured out of the stadium, chants of “Obule! Obule!” filled the evening air, a testament to the visitors’ dominance and the unifying power of football in northern Uganda.
