Kamuli, Uganda: The First Deputy Prime Minister and Kamuli District Woman MP, Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has called on the people of Busoga to put past political grievances aside, restore party discipline, and rally firmly behind the NRM presidential candidate, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in the 2026 elections.
Kadaga, who is on a Busoga-wide mobilization trail to boost Museveni’s vote, told supporters that despite past clashes within the Central Executive Committee (CEC), Busoga must embrace unity, loyalty, and reconciliation for the sake of the sub-region’s development.
“During the homecoming, I told you I was still NRM. Let us stop hurting and grieving and put the past aside,” Kadaga said. “What affected me, affected you most — but let us promote reconciliation, unity and renewed commitment to development.”
Kadaga reaffirmed her commitment to the NRM and urged voters to support all NRM flagbearers across all structures, saying Busoga’s strength lies in speaking with one voice.
The former Speaker of Parliament highlighted key development priorities tailored for Busoga, including:- the establishment of industrial parks to address youth unemployment, operationalisation of Bukungu Ferries to ease trade access to Teso and Lango, promotion of cultural, religious, and community tourism, creation of talent studios for youth creatives, and pushing for the full development of Kimaka International Airport
She said these interventions would anchor Busoga’s long-term socioeconomic transformation.
“When Mama Says Yes, Who Are We to Say No?” – Protégée Mastula Namatovu
Kamuli Municipality NRM candidate Mastula Namatovu, a close protégé of Kadaga, challenged residents to demonstrate loyalty to the party and to Museveni as an honour to Kadaga’s decision to reconcile with the President despite internal party differences.
“Mama was the one targeted, humiliated and kicked out. But when she reconciles with Mzee, it means she has chosen to protect our gains,” Mastula said. “We should use this loyalty as a bargaining tool for better services.”
Former Kamuli LCV chairman and now Uganda’s Envoy to Germany, Ambassador Stephen Mubiru, urged Busoga to stop lamenting and instead take advantage of this election season to push for new development demands and completion of ongoing government projects.
On his part, Kamuli District LCV NRM flagbearer Kaloli Dhizaala echoed similar sentiments, saying residents were not opposed to the NRM but were disappointed with internal party elections. With Kadaga reconciling, he said, voters are ready to return to the fold.
“Mama Kadaga is a brand. She has demonstrated true party discipline,” Dhizaala said. “We call on voters to support Museveni, Kadaga and all NRM flagbearers for the manifesto to be implemented.”
Kadaga was accompanied by Ministers Persis Namuganza and Fred Bwino Kyakulaga, signalling a show of unity many Busoga residents had long called for.
