Buyende, Uganda: The ruling NRM presidential flag bearer and President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has pledged a significant upgrade of Buyende’s social and economic infrastructure, saying development remains one of the seven core pillars of the NRM government.
Speaking during his campaign rally on Tuesday afternoon at Kagulu Primary School in Kagulu Sub-county, the President said government has spent the last four decades ensuring peace and stability, and is now intensifying efforts to expand infrastructure needed to transform livelihoods.
“In the last forty years, we have been able to put seven pillars in Uganda. The first pillar is peace and development, which has two parts—economic infrastructure and social infrastructure,” President Museveni said.
He explained that economic infrastructure includes roads, electricity, telecommunication, railway lines and ferries, while social infrastructure comprises schools and health facilities.
Museveni emphasized government’s plan to ensure proper distribution of education facilities across the country. “The plan is clear: we want to build primary schools in every parish and secondary schools in every sub-county,” he said.
The President noted that Buyende has 92 primary schools across 72 parishes, but only 36 parishes have schools—something he described as a gap government is ready to fix. He added that Buyende has only six secondary schools across 15 sub-counties, promising each sub-county a secondary school.
Museveni further pledged improvements in community health services, promising to upgrade and establish new health centres.
He announced that; Nkone Health Centre II (Irundu Sub-county) will be upgraded to Health Centre III, Ngando Health Centre II (Ngando Sub-county) will be upgraded to Health Centre III, and New Health Centre IIIs will be constructed in Gumpi, Buyanja and Kidera Sub-counties

The President assured residents that funds have already been secured for the 127km Ambercourt (Jinja) – Mbulamuti – Bukungu Road, which he said is scheduled for construction.
He also revealed that the Kamuli–Kagulu Road and the Iyingo–Irundu–Kaliro Road have been included in the national Development Plan IV and will be worked on.
NRM leaders in Buyende, led by Anita Among, the 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female), and Eng. Moses Magogo, MP for Budiope East, and Budiope West MP Flag Bearer, Minister Milly Babalanda assured the President that Buyende will overwhelmingly support NRM flag bearers in the upcoming elections.
