Uganda markets Speke Resort Convention Centre at IBTM World in Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain: Uganda has stepped onto the global meetings and business-events stage with a powerful showcase at IBTM World 2025, highlighting the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo as one of the country’s most advanced and strategic MICE investments.

The Uganda delegation, led by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) through the Uganda Convention Bureau (UCB), is participating in the three-day international expo running from 18th to 20th November 2025.

The team includes representatives from 10 private-sector MICE companies, presenting a unified pitch of Uganda’s end-to-end business events ecosystem spanning convention centres, hotels, DMCs, PCOs, safari lodges and incentive-travel operators.

At the heart of Uganda’s exhibition is the Speke Resort Convention Centre, a state-of-the-art facility jointly developed by the Ruparelia Group and the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC).
Situated along the scenic shores of Lake Victoria, the convention centre features a main auditorium with 3,800-delegate capacity, multiple high-tech breakout rooms, luxury accommodation and lakeside leisure facilities and world-class amenities for summits, corporate meetings, exhibitions and mega-events.

Officials describe the facility as a flagship asset capable of positioning Uganda as a credible host for major international gatherings.

Part of Uganda’s MICE Strategy 2025–2030

Uganda’s presence at IBTM World aligns with the country’s MICE Strategy 2025–2030, which seeks to elevate the Pearl of Africa into a premier African destination for meetings, conferences, incentives and business tourism.

By showcasing modern, tech-enabled infrastructure alongside its traditional strengths, gorilla trekking, national parks, Lake Victoria, and rich cultural tourism, Uganda aims to deepen its “business-plus-leisure” appeal for international buyers.

New Business Leads and Global Visibility Expected

Officials say Uganda’s participation is expected to attract high-value global conferences, unlock new business leads across the meetings industry, strengthen partnerships with event planners from more than 140 countries and boost the profile of private-sector players such as the Ruparelia Group.

With IBTM World attracting thousands of exhibitors and buyers, Uganda’s joint government-private sector showcase marks one of its strongest pushes yet into the global MICE market.
