Rabat, Morocco: Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has been honoured with the CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award for his pivotal role in helping the country co-host what CAF described as the most successful African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in history.
The award was conferred by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, who also recognised the Presidents of Kenya and Tanzania for their collective contribution to the growth of African football through the joint hosting of CHAN 2024.
CAF hailed the 2024 edition as a landmark success, crediting the three host nations for delivering world-class organisation, infrastructure support, and regional cooperation that elevated the tournament’s profile and fan experience.
The trio will also host the 36th Edition of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which takes place between June and July 2027.
The honour solidifies Uganda’s increasing influence in African football and its commitment to strengthening regional collaborations in sports development.
