Kamuli, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM Presidential Flagbearer, has pledged to establish industrial parks in Kamuli District and across Busoga Sub-region as part of efforts to expand job creation through Uganda’s ongoing industrialisation programme.

Speaking during his Thursday campaign rally at Bupadhengo Primary School in Nawanyago Sub-county, the President said job creation remains a key pillar of the NRM government and has been mainly driven by investments in factories and value-addition centres.

Museveni welcomed the growing trend of communities voluntarily offering land for the establishment of industrial parks, promising that government will utilise the land to spur local development.

“I’m happy that people have started offering land for industrial parks like the one in Namasagali, Kiige and other areas. People are beginning to wake up, so we shall use this land to create jobs for our people,” he said.

Citing his earlier visit to the DEI Biopharma factory in Busambu Village, Namasagali Sub-county, the President noted that such factories are already employing thousands of Ugandans, particularly the youth, and represent the future of economic transformation.

“These factories like Magoola’s in Namasagali, Tembo Steel and many others are giving more than one million jobs to the youth, so we shall continue developing and constructing more,” he added.

Museveni also committed to upgrading key road networks in Busoga, including Budondo–Mbulamuti–Kamuli–Bukungu Road, 10km of roads in Jinja City, and the Iganga–Bulopa–Kamuli Road, which he said are already funded. He further pledged new roads such as Kamuli–Namwiwa–Kaliro–Pallisa, alongside additional schools and health centres in Kamuli District.

During the rally, NRM Kamuli District Chairperson and Bugabula South Flag bearer Bazanya Matayo asked the President to consider creating a new Buzaaya District, arguing that the constituency has several sub-counties that qualify it for district status.

“Your Excellency, we request that Buzaaya be made a new district or be split into two constituencies for better service delivery,” Bazanya said.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East Africa, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga thanked the President for the developments already achieved in Busoga but urged further attention to ongoing regional projects.

“Mr President, we thank you for the gains in Busoga. However, we still need more attention on projects like Kasolwe Livestock Farm, Marine University, Kimaka Airstrip, Busoga University, and the nuclear power plant in Buyende District,” she said.
