Jinja City, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday met the Kyabazinga of Busoga and laid the foundation stone for the new headquarters of Obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga, a major step in the Kingdom’s institutional strengthening and service delivery.

The President, who was en route to his final Busoga-region campaign rally at Bugembe Stadium, described the project as a major boost to the cultural institution and a step toward strengthening unity and development in the region.

“On my way to the final rally in Bugembe Stadium, I stopped to meet the Kyabazinga and lay the Foundation Stone for the new Headquarters of Obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga. I thank the Kyabazinga and his team for the good cooperation.

This development will support the cultural institution as we continue working with the people of Busoga to secure peace and push forward socio-economic transformation,” Museveni said in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The proposed new Busoga Kingdom Headquarters will be constructed in Bugembe, Jinja City.

The new headquarters will serve as the administrative nerve centre of the kingdom, complementing ongoing government efforts to uplift Busoga through roads, industrialisation, skilling programmes and wealth-creation initiatives under PDM and Emyooga.

The President praised the Kyabazinga for maintaining strong collaboration with the government, saying such partnerships reinforce peace and accelerate socio-economic transformation across Busoga’s 11 districts.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope, welcomed the development and expressed gratitude for the government’s support. He said the new headquarters would significantly improve the Kingdom’s ability to serve the people.

A Project Management Team has been established to oversee implementation, led by Owek. Osman Ahmed Noor, Deputy Katuukiro and Prime Minister of the Kingdom.
