Katakwi, Uganda: Police in Katakwi District have launched investigations into the gruesome killing of a 27-year-old DJ whose body was discovered with multiple deep cuts in a swamp in Katakwi Town Council.
The victim, identified as Elungat Patrick, a resident of Aleles–Magoro Southern Ward, was found early Sunday morning lying in a pool of blood at Western Ward, with severe injuries suspected to have been inflicted using sticks.
A team of homicide detectives led by D/AIP Okello Peter visited the scene and transferred the body to Katakwi Hospital mortuary. Police opened a case of murder under Katakwi CRB 633/2025. “We are investigating a murder where a male DJ was hacked to death. The motive is still unclear, but we are hunting for the suspects,” Okello said.
Children who had gone to dispose of a dead dog in the swamp stumbled upon the body and alerted the Angopet Cell LCI Chairperson, Gabriel Ogele Abuderi, who rushed to the scene before notifying police.
“I confirmed the presence of a lifeless body while it appeared he had struggled. I immediately informed the police,” Ogele said.
Katakwi District LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Omolo condemned the killing and warned the public against taking the law into their own hands. He urged residents to work closely with security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are arrested.
Police have appealed to the community to share any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the killers.
