Rubanda, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni Monday took the NRM’s 2026–2031 manifesto to Rubanda District, urging residents to protect the peace, development gains and infrastructure projects that have shaped the Kigezi region over the years.
Addressing supporters at Kabirizi playground, Museveni said the manifesto represents a continuation of the NRM’s long-term agenda for stability and prosperity. “We came to present the NRM Manifesto for 2026 to 2031, a continuation of our journey of peace, development and prosperity,” he said.
Museveni emphasised the value of peace as the foundation of development, noting that communities in Kisoro understand this well due to their proximity to conflict-affected eastern DRC. “Here in Uganda, we defeated Kony and other rebel groups and secured peace, and we must protect it,” he said.

The President highlighted major infrastructure investments that have transformed the region, including the Kabale–Kisoro Road, and pointed to several strategic road projects now in the pipeline. These include Kisoro–Nkuringo Road, Katuna–Muko–Kamuganguzi Road, Hamurwa–Kanungu–Buhoma Road, and Kabale–Bunyonyi–Kisoro–Mgahinga corridor, for which funding is already secured.
Museveni told residents that the NRM’s development path remains clear and consistent. “Rubanda should know that NRM’s plan is clear and continuing. Let us protect the gains and move forward together,” he concluded.
The President moves next to Rukiga and Kabale on Tuesday, November 25, before concluding his Kigezi tour with rallies in Kanungu and Rukungiri on Wednesday.
