Pallisa, Uganda: The Territorial Police in North Bukedi’s Pallisa District are hunting for a man who fled the area after defiling a four-year-old girl in an unfinished building.
According to a statement issued by ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect, only identified by appearance at this stage, lured the juvenile victim, Agnes, away from her friends as she played near her home in Kalalaka A Cell yesterday afternoon.
The attacker reportedly took the child to an incomplete building where he sexually assaulted her before fleeing. Neighbours rushed to the scene after the girl raised an alarm and found her naked and bleeding heavily from her private parts.
Police officers from Pallisa Central Police Station and the Scene of Crime Investigators documented the scene and recovered the victim’s clothes, including her blouse, skirt and underwear, from inside the unfinished structure. A K9 dog was deployed but failed to pick up a scent trail.
The victim was issued a Police Form for urgent medical examination and treatment, while statements were recorded from witnesses and the complainant, Okurut Emmanuel, 32, who reported the case at 12:59 pm. The matter has been registered under CRB 662/2025.
Child rights activists in Pallisa condemned the incident, describing it as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers faced by young girls in the community. A local child-protection volunteer who asked for anonymity called for heightened vigilance and community cooperation.
“These innocent children deserve to play without fear. We urge the community to stay alert and report any suspicious persons immediately,” the volunteer said.
Police have appealed to the public to provide any information that could assist in identifying and arresting the suspect.
