Kamuli, Uganda: Police in Kamuli are investigating a brutal incident of murder and aggravated robbery in which a 31-year-old female mobile money operator was attacked and killed at her home in Butamo Zone, Busota Ward, Southern Division, Kamuli Municipality.
The attack occurred at around 9:00 pm on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, when three unidentified assailants, armed with blunt objects, ambushed the victim at her residence, assaulted her and fled with her mobile phone and an unspecified amount of cash.
The victim was rushed to Kamuli General Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Busoga North Police spokesperson SSP Samson Lubega confirmed the incident, registered at Kamuli Central Police Station, saying detectives have already begun tracking the suspects. “Investigations have commenced, and a manhunt for the suspects is ongoing,” Lubega said.
Police Warn of Rising Crime Ahead of Festive Season
Lubega urged the public, especially mobile money operators, to remain alert as the festive season approaches.
“As we move into the festive season, crime trends historically rise due to increased financial transactions and movement of cash. Mobile money operators must be extremely vigilant and implement necessary precautions,” he said.
Police condemned the killing and reassured the public that efforts are underway to identify, pursue and arrest the perpetrators.
SSP Lubega called on residents to volunteer any useful information regarding the incident, noting that all information shared will be treated with strict confidentiality.
