Ecweru earned the accolade under the Personality Category for his exemplary leadership, selfless service, and lasting contributions to Uganda’s Works and Transport sector.
Kampala, Uganda: Hon. Francis Musa Ecweru, the Minister of State for Works and Transport (Works), has been recognised among the country’s top transformative leaders at the 13th Visionaries of Uganda Awards held at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The ceremony, graced by Vice President Jessica Alupo, celebrated institutions and individuals whose work is advancing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation in line with Vision 2040.
Ecweru earned the accolade under the Personality Category for his exemplary leadership, selfless service, and lasting contributions to Uganda’s Works and Transport sector.
Organisers praised him for championing infrastructure development, strengthening national road accessibility, and supporting government efforts toward achieving middle-income status.
Launched by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 2013, the Visionaries Awards honour impactful personalities and transformative initiatives shaping Uganda’s long-term development trajectory.
Ecweru, an accountant and long-serving public servant, has held key national roles — from State Minister for Relief and Disaster Preparedness in 2006, to serving as Local Defence Commander for the Teso sub-region and Chief of the Arrow Auxiliary Force during the fight against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).
He has represented Amuria County in Parliament since 2006 and currently serves as State Minister for Works and NRM Chairperson for Amuria District.
Leaders at the ceremony commended Ecweru for “dedicated national service spanning decades” and his pivotal role in improving community livelihoods through better transport infrastructure and consistent grassroots mobilisation.
