President Museveni is expected to grace the function as Chief Guest, while the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, will deliver the sermon.

Jinja, Uganda: Preparations are in the final stretch ahead of the enthronement of the 4th Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rev Canon Prof Grace Lubaale, with the historic ceremony set for December 14, 2025, at Bugembe Kyabazinga Stadium.

Dr Lubaale will succeed Rt Rev Dr Samson Paul Naimanhe Mukembo Mudumba, whose term concludes on the same day. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to grace the function as Chief Guest, while the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, will deliver the sermon.

Rev Martin Munobwa, the Publicity Secretary of the organising committee and the ICT Officer for Busoga Diocese, said all systems are ready for the mega enthronement ceremony.

“The preparations are in high gear, and we appreciate all those contributing towards this cause. We continue to urge Christians across Busoga to support the Church and turn up in big numbers on that day,” Rev Munobwa said.

Bishop-elect Lubaale has pledged to blend faith and practical skills to transform lives, repeatedly calling on government to extend empowerment programmes such as Emyooga to the clergy. He argues that spiritual leaders also face financial pressures that can limit their service to communities.

Born on October 9, 1978, in Bugombya Zone, Kamuli District, Dr Lubaale gave his life to Christ in December 1994. He was ordained a deacon in the Diocese of Kampala in 2008, priested in 2009, and later installed as Canon of Education and Training at All Saints Cathedral, Kampala on November 1, 2024.

A respected theologian and academic, he holds a PhD in Development Studies, a Master of Arts in Theology, a Master of Arts in Development Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts with Education. He is married to Clare Louise Atuheirwe, and they have four children.
