Adjumani, Uganda: A violent arson attack in Leaguru Village, Pakele Sub-county, left one person dead and three suspects in custody following a joint police–UPDF operation on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea said the attack occurred at around 2:00 hours, when a group of armed assailants wielding pangas, bows, and arrows stormed a homestead and set the main house ablaze after the complainant and his children fled.
In a separate hut within the same compound, another family member was brutally assaulted using sharp objects and sustained multiple lacerations and blunt-force trauma. He was rushed to Mungula Health Centre IV but was pronounced dead at about 1300 hours.
Security forces conducted a rapid response and arrested three prime suspects, all residents of Leaguru Village. They are detained at Adjumani Central Police Station facing preliminary charges of murder, arson, and aggravated robbery under Case Ref: ADJ CRB 706/2025.
Scene of Crime Officers and homicide detectives processed the burnt homestead and the secondary assault site. The deceased’s body was conveyed for postmortem examination under PF 48A and PF 48B.
Joint security teams remain deployed in the area to prevent possible reprisals and maintain calm as investigations continue.
