Munyonyo, Uganda: Speke Resort Munyonyo has hosted the inaugural Stanbic Ongea Digital Summit 2025, bringing together Uganda’s leading content creators, innovators, policymakers and industry stakeholders to chart the future of the country’s digital economy.
The landmark summit, held under the hashtag #StanbicOngeaDigitalSummit25, transformed the lakeside resort into a national hub for innovation and strategic dialogue, marking a major step in efforts to professionalise and strengthen Uganda’s fast-growing creator economy.
Organised by Stanbic Bank Uganda in partnership with Ongea Africa, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and the Uganda Digital Society, the summit focused on key themes including digital monetisation, regulation, inclusion and emerging opportunities within the content creation ecosystem.
Participants ranging from established industry leaders to young digital creators engaged in conversations aimed at unlocking the sector’s economic potential while ensuring inclusivity for youth, women, elders and persons with disabilities.
The summit also served as a platform for cross-sector collaboration, with stakeholders examining how policy, finance and innovation can work together to support sustainable growth in Uganda’s digital space.
Friends of Uganda (FOU) was among the organisations actively engaging partners at the summit, highlighting the role of technology as both an economic driver and a tool for promoting unity, responsible digital engagement and national cohesion.
FOU representatives emphasized the importance of using digital platforms to empower communities, support peacebuilding initiatives and foster responsible online participation.
The summit underscored Stanbic Bank Uganda’s continued investment in youth skills development and digital entrepreneurship, positioning the financial institution as a key player in supporting Uganda’s digital transformation.
Industry stakeholders expressed optimism that the Stanbic Ongea Digital Summit will become a flagship regional platform for digital innovation, creator development and policy engagement.
