Kiboga, Uganda: The NRM Vice Chairman for Central Region, Hon. Haruna Kasolo, has called on voters in Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts to turn out in large numbers on the Jan 15 polling day and re-elect President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, citing steady leadership and the need to protect development gains.
Hon Kasolo made the remarks on Tuesday, December 16, during the NRM campaign rally at Kiboga Saza Grounds, where he addressed supporters ahead of President Museveni’s campaign rally as the ruling party’s presidential flag bearer intensified his tour of the Buganda region.
“We thank President Museveni for his visionary leadership that has transformed Buganda economically,” Kasolo said, urging voters to safeguard ongoing national projects by ensuring continuity of leadership.
The Minister for Microfinance described the 2026 elections as critical for consolidating peace, stability and wealth-creation programmes, warning that disruption could reverse gains made over decades.
President Museveni’s Buganda campaign is viewed as pivotal for the ruling party. In the 2021 general elections, the President claimed he lost about 2.7 million votes in the region to the opposition, making a strong comeback in Central Uganda a strategic priority for the NRM.

The day’s activities began with a rally in Kyankwanzi District before proceeding to Kiboga. The engagements marked the second day of Museveni’s Buganda campaign swing, following a major rally on Monday at Kasambya Playground in Mubende District, which attracted tens of thousands of supporters.
Political observers say the mobilization by seasoned NRM figures such as Kasolo could significantly influence voter turnout and party performance across Central Uganda.
President Museveni is scheduled to continue his campaign on Wednesday in Mityana and Kassanda districts, wrapping up the Greater Mubende trail before heading to the Greater Masaka sub-region on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
