Kadaga not sick, but resting from fatigue, says campaign team

Former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga's official campaigner Felix Isabirye addresses journalists at her campaign offices in Kamuli Municipality.

Kamuli, Uganda: The campaign team of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has dismissed social media claims that she is ill and hospitalised, saying the Kamuli District Woman MP aspirant is only resting due to fatigue.

The clarification was issued on Tuesday by Felix Isabirye, an official campaigner for Kadaga, while addressing journalists at the campaign offices in Kamuli Municipality.

“There are false claims circulating that Rt. Hon. Kadaga collapsed and was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital in Kenya. That is not true. She is not sick; it is just fatigue,” Isabirye said.

He attributed Kadaga’s brief break from active campaigning to a demanding political schedule that included NRM Central Executive Committee campaigns, post-election activities, and preparations for President Museveni’s campaign tour in Busoga.

“She has not rested for a long time. From CEC campaigns, Busoga engagements, and preparations for the President’s visit, the body needed rest. Mama Kadaga is strong and safe,” he added.

Isabirye warned against what he described as blackmail and misinformation, urging voters in Kamuli to ignore rumours surrounding Kadaga’s health.

“We are used to this kind of propaganda. We assure the people of Kamuli that Mama Kadaga is strong and will continue campaigning,” he said.

He further revealed that the campaign team is continuing with its village-to-village mobilisation strategy, adding that Kadaga is expected to rejoin the campaign trail soon.

“Very soon she will be back to join us in rallies across all constituencies in Kamuli District, as planned,” Isabirye said.

Kadaga is contesting for the Kamuli District Woman Member of Parliament seat on the NRM ticket ahead of the 2026 general elections.
