Africa Cup of Nations 2025 (Group C)
Uganda vs Tanzania
Saturday, December 27, 2025 (8:30 p.m. EAT)
Rabat, Morocco: Uganda Cranes head coach Joseph Paul Put has made five changes to his starting XI in Saturday night’s AFCON 2025 Group C showdown against Tanzania Taifa Stars, with veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango returning to start and captain the side.
The changes come after Uganda’s 3–1 defeat to Tunisia three days ago, as Put reshuffles in a must-win fixture at 8:30 p.m. EAT at the Al Medina Stadium, Rabat.
Onyango replaces Salim Omar Magoola Jamal between the posts, while Allan Okello, Travis Mutyaba, Baba Alhassan, and Bobosi Byaruhanga all make it to the starting lineup, replacing Steven Mukwala, Rogers Torach, Khalid Aucho and Lorenzen Melvyn.
Only Kenneth Ssemakula, Toby Sibbick, Jordan Obita, Jude Ssemugabi, and Rogers Kassim Mato retain their places from the Tunisia game as Uganda seeks balance and control to recover from the defeat in a shaky opening match.
Uganda and Tanzania both enter the contest under pressure following opening-day defeats, leaving little margin for error in Group C. A winner for either side will reignite hopes of advancing to the next stage, while defeat deems either side out of the tournament.
