Nebbi, Uganda: Christians in Nebbi Diocese have been urged to embrace dialogue, unity, and love as foundations for church growth and spiritual maturity, as Rev. Isaac Rwothomio bid farewell to believers after four years of service as Parish Priest of Paidha Town Parish.

Delivering a heartfelt farewell sermon at St Paul Church of Uganda in Mvungu, Rev. Rwothomio cautioned believers against baseless accusations directed at church leaders, instead calling for Godly dialogue grounded in Scripture as a pathway to reconciliation and unity within the Body of Christ.

Preaching from 1 Peter 4:7-8, he reminded congregants that sincere love, expressed through prayerful and open dialogue, has the power to heal divisions, restore broken relationships, and draw believers closer to God.

“Leaders come and leaders go as stewards of the mysteries of God,” Rev. Rwothomio said. “Let us embrace dialogue in humility, because it promotes forgiveness, restores brotherhood, and guards us against backbiting and disunity that grieve the Holy Spirit.”

Rev. Rwothomio, who was transferred from Papoga Parish in 2022 to serve the newly established Paidha Town Parish under the Church of Uganda within Nebbi Diocese, said dialogue strengthens the communion of saints and empowers young believers to participate meaningfully in ministry without resorting to gossip or division.

He urged church elders and committees to create space for youth involvement, noting that inclusive leadership prevents frustration among young Christians and nurtures a generation rooted in faith and service.

In an emotional address, the Reverend’s wife echoed the call for unity, urging Christians to remain steadfast in love and cooperation. “Stand firm on the foundation laid in Christ,” she said. “Unity in the Body brings spiritual fruit and tangible blessings from our Heavenly Father.”

Reflecting on challenges encountered during his tenure, including internal disagreements, Rev. Rwothomio thanked God for victories achieved through prayer and perseverance.

He mobilised continued support for ongoing parish projects, including construction of the pastor’s residence and renovations, praising congregants for faithful tithing and offerings. “These are sacrifices pleasing to the Lord that have sustained and grown this parish,” Rev Rwothomio said.

Congregants responded with emotional tributes, acknowledging the impact of dialogue and reconciliation during his leadership.

Catechist Jimmy Bidong commended the Reverend’s guidance, urging believers to reject accusations and walk in Godly conversation so that peace may abound.

Congregant Oyenthboth Christine called for mutual forgiveness, saying the priest’s teachings had provided deep spiritual nourishment.

Elder Anecho Bernard pledged continued development of the parish, while English service chairperson Beatrice Namusisi said God had used Rev. Rwothomio to break down walls of division and assured him of continued prayerful support.

As he departs for further studies, Rev. Rwothomio urged believers to love God above all, remain sober-minded, and love one another fervently, anchored in the enduring principle of agape love.

The farewell service was held on December 28, 2025, marking the end of Rev. Rwothomio’s pastoral ministry at Paidha Town Parish.
