Luuka, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Busoga North has launched investigations into a fatal electrocution incident that claimed the lives of two women at Bulanga Estate Zone in Bulanga Town Council, Luuka District.
The deceased have been identified as Namaganda Nasaabu, 70, and Nabirye Zakiya, 26, a housewife who was pregnant at the time of her death. The incident occurred inside their residence, where the two were reportedly electrocuted.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the deaths are suspected to have resulted from an illegal electricity connection within the house. The victims were found electrocuted indoors, although relatives reportedly removed the bodies from the immediate scene before police officers arrived.
Police say arrangements are underway for a postmortem examination by a medical officer to establish the exact cause of death, as investigations continue in coordination with relevant electricity authorities.
Busoga North Police spokesperson Samson Lubega warned the public against illegal power connections, noting that they pose serious risks including electrocution, fire outbreaks, and loss of life.
He urged residents to ensure electrical installations are handled by qualified and licensed technicians, avoid tampering with power lines, meters, or wiring, and report suspected illegal connections to authorities or electricity service providers.
