Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to hold a live, multi-platform conversation with young Ugandans (Gen-Zs) this coming Sunday, January 4, 2026, as part of his direct outreach to the Bazzukulu ahead of the 2026 general elections.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Monday evening, Museveni confirmed plans for the engagement and invited young people, whom he affectionately referred to as Bazzukulu, to join the live engagement.
“Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. I will have a chat with young people live on TV, radio and social media this Sunday, the 4th of January, 2026. Please join us,” Museveni wrote.
The upcoming engagement, DailyExpress understands, will be broadcast live on television, radio and across social media platforms, allowing real-time interaction between the President and young audiences, marking a shift from previous pre-recorded formats.
The announcement comes nearly a month after Mr Museveni’s earlier pre-recorded youth podcast hosted at his farm in Rwakitura on Sunday, December 1, 2024, which was later broadcast via popular social media channels, including TikTok and X.
That podcast drew wide attention for its informal tone and focus on youth concerns such as employment, innovation, patriotism and national stability.
Unlike the podcast session, the January 4 dialogue will be live, giving young Ugandans an opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and directly engage the President as the country moves closer to polling day.
Political analysts say the move reflects the growing importance of digital platforms and youth voters in Uganda’s electoral landscape, with Gen-Zs forming a significant and increasingly vocal segment of the electorate.
The live chat is expected to centre on governance, employment, service delivery, corruption, and youth participation in national development, key issues that have dominated recent campaign discourse.
Museveni’s outreach to Gen-Zs comes amid intensified campaign activity across the country, as candidates and parties step up efforts to connect with younger voters through social media and interactive formats ahead of the January 15 elections.
