Kaliro, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Kaliro District have launched investigations into an incident of unlawful wounding that occurred during a political gathering at Nantamali Trading Centre on Monday afternoon.
According to police, the incident happened at around 3:00 pm on December 29, 2025, in Nansololo Sub-county, Kaliro District.
The victim has been identified as Isabilye Bosco, a 28-year-old male resident of Nantamali Trading Center.
Preliminary information indicates that the injury was sustained amid a disturbance that arose during a political gathering, reportedly involving individuals believed to be supporters of different political actors.
Busoga North Police Spokesperson Samson Lubega said the victim was initially rushed to Kaliro Community Health Centre for first aid before being referred to Iganga General Hospital for further medical management.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify and apprehend any suspects involved.
SSP Lubega said police are conducting thorough and impartial investigations, warning that anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He reiterated that security agencies have put in place adequate measures to maintain law and order throughout the election period, appealing to political leaders, mobilisers and supporters to exercise restraint.
Police urged all political actors to avoid provocation and ensure that campaign activities are conducted peacefully and within the confines of the law.
