Victoria University has opened free Artificial Intelligence lectures to students, graduates and the public during the vacation period.

Kampala, Uganda: Victoria University, the leading transformational varsity in the country, has introduced free Artificial Intelligence (AI) lectures open to Senior Four and Senior Six students, graduates, and the general public during the ongoing vacation period.

In an announcement passed via its socials, the university said the initiative is aimed at equipping learners with practical AI knowledge and preparing them for emerging opportunities in education, business, and the future of work as artificial intelligence continues to reshape global industries.

According to the announcement, the free lectures are open to Senior Four (S4) and Senior Six (S6) students, holders of certificates, diplomas or degrees, as well as Victoria University students, alumni and members of the public who meet the minimum academic requirements.

DailyExpress understands that during these classes, participants will receive a practical introduction to Artificial Intelligence, exposure to real-world AI tools and applications, and guidance on how to prepare for AI-driven careers. The programme will also issue certificates to participants upon completion.

Asked how the free AI lectures will be moderated, an official attached to the institution said classes will be delivered through both online and physical sessions, with specific details on schedules and venues to be shared after successful registration.

Why VU’s Free AI Classes Matter

Artificial Intelligence is already transforming how Ugandans learn, work and do business, yet access to AI skills remains limited by cost and awareness gaps. The introduction of free AI classes at VU will drastically help close this divide by exposing students and graduates to practical digital tools early, improving career readiness and adaptability in a rapidly changing job market.

For Senior Four and Senior Six students in particular, early exposure to AI helps demystify complex technologies before career paths are fixed, encouraging informed choices in science, technology, engineering and innovation-related fields.

Yet for diploma and degree holders, AI literacy enhances employability, adaptability and competitiveness in a job market that increasingly values digital problem-solving skills over traditional qualifications alone.

By offering free AI training, Victoria University Kampala reinforces its long-standing role in promoting digital innovation and future-ready skills beyond traditional classrooms. The initiative widens access to emerging technologies and supports Uganda’s broader push toward a skilled, innovation-driven workforce.

Interested applicants can register online for the limited slots on a first-come, first-serve basis.
