Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Tourism Board has assured visitors that Uganda remains peaceful, secure and fully open for tourism activities during the ongoing election cycle, watering down concerns of disruption ahead of polling.
In a statement issued on Friday, January 9, UTB said the country continues to enjoy a calm and stable environment across all tourism destinations, including national parks, wildlife reserves, cultural sites, urban centres, adventure hubs and hospitality establishments.
“Uganda has continued to enjoy a calm and stable environment across all tourism areas, including national parks, wildlife reserves, cultural sites, cities, adventure and hospitality establishments,” the statement reads in part.

“Tourism activities are proceeding normally, with hotels, lodges, tour operators, attractions, and transport services operating without disruption.”
UTB said the government has put in place adequate security arrangements to guarantee the safety of both citizens and visitors, including on election day, adding that the Board is working closely with relevant government agencies and private sector players to ensure seamless visitor experiences across the country.
The tourism authority encouraged travellers planning to visit Uganda, popularly known as The Pearl of Africa, to proceed with their travel plans regardless. “We encourage visitors to ‘The Pearl of Africa’ to proceed with their travel plans as scheduled.”
UTB further advised visitors to rely on official communication channels for verified updates, directing them to its website and official social media platforms for timely and accurate information on tourism operations during the election period
