NRM’s Dhizaala Kaloli elected Kamuli District LCV Chairperson

NRM’s Dhizaala Kaloli has been declared winner of the Kamuli District LCV Chairperson seat after polling 47,558 votes in the January 22, 2026 local government elections.

Kamuli, Uganda: The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Dhizaala Kaloli, has been declared the winner of the Kamuli District Local Council Five (LCV) Chairperson seat following local government elections held on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

The Kamuli District Returning Officer, Kayabwe Kenneth, announced Kaloli as the duly elected chairperson after securing the highest number of votes in the four-way contest.

According to the official results, Dhizaala Kaloli polled 47,558 votes, defeating independent candidate Robert Kalulu, who garnered 29,828 votes. Ndegwe Mubarack (Independent) received 3,167 votes, while Mutebe Francis Tayoleka of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) trailed with 1,425 votes.

“I, Kayabwe Kenneth, being the Returning Officer of Kamuli District, hereby declare Dhizaala Kaloli as the duly elected Chairperson of Kamuli District,” Kayabwe said while announcing the final tally.

Speaking shortly after receiving his declaration forms, Kaloli thanked God and voters across the district for the confidence placed in him, pledging improved service delivery.

“I thank God who has guided me through this process and the people of Kamuli who voted for me. I promise better service delivery to all the people of Kamuli,” Kaloli said.

The first runner-up, Robert Kalulu, conceded defeat and called for unity, urging the winner to serve all residents without discrimination.

Addressing journalists at his home in Mugulusi LC I, Nawanende Parish, Bugulumbya Sub-county, Kalulu said the will of the electorate must be respected. “The people have decided, and I respect their decision. I urge my brother to work for the people and promote unity in the district,” he said.

In neighbouring Buyende District, Sharif Mangalaine of the NRM was also declared LCV Chairperson after sweeping the polls with 87,295 votes. Independent candidates Isabirye Paul and Baliruno David followed with 4,374 and 4,002 votes respectively.
