Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed that the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results is set for Friday, January 30, 2026, DailyExpress understands.
The announcement was made by UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule, following a closed-door meeting held on Wednesday evening with the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, who also doubles as the First Lady.
“The release has been set for Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 am at State Lodge, Nakaseo,” Ms Kalule said, adding that “the briefing of the Minister of Education and Sports has been successfully conducted and recognised by stakeholders.”
“The minister commended UNEB for ensuring the results were processed and released within the stipulated timelines.”
The development comes amid earlier speculation that the temporary internet shutdown imposed ahead of the January 15 general elections could delay the release of the results, claims UNEB has since dismissed.
Ms Kalule clarified that marking, verification, and quality assurance procedures for the 2025 PLE were conducted as planned and were not disrupted by the brief internet interruption.
UNEB records indicate that 818,010 candidates registered for the 2025 PLE, representing a 2.5 per cent increase from the 797,444 candidates who registered in 2024.
Of the total candidates who sat the examinations, 428,398 were girls, while 389,589 were boys.
In comparison, the 2024 PLE results were released earlier on January 23. Senior One candidates are expected to report to their respective schools on February 16, according to the 2026 education calendar.
