Kiryandongo, Uganda: Incumbent Kibanda North Member of Parliament Linos Ngompek has been re-elected for a second term after winning the parliamentary rerun held on January 27, 2026.
The results were declared by Kiryandongo District Returning Officer Musingunzi Rashid, confirming Ngompek’s victory on the National Resistance Movement ticket.
According to the official tally, Ngompek polled 14,525 votes (59%), defeating former MP Idi Amin Taban, an independent candidate, who secured 8,444 votes (35.37%).
Other candidates trailed far behind, with Lumansi Benjamin of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue polling 343 votes (1.44%), Alinaitwe Rogers of the National Unity Platform obtaining 257 votes (1.18%), Bagonza David Byemaiso of the Democratic Front gathering 85 votes (0.36%), and Ochan Zacharias of the Uganda People’s Congress receiving 84 votes (0.35%).
The election results were declared by Rashid Musinguzi, the Kiryandongo District Returning Officer.
Speaking shortly after being declared the winner, Ngompek said his priorities would include fighting land grabbing in the constituency, improving health service delivery, and initiating wealth creation programmes among his electorate.
He also appealed to his political opponents to work with him to foster development in Kibanda North Constituency and Kiryandongo District at large.
Ngompek, who has represented Kibanda North since 2021, will now serve in the 12th Parliament following the conclusion of the rerun election.
