Kampala, Uganda: Ugandan celebrated music star Edirisa Musuuza, known popularly as Eddy Kenzo, will not attend the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, despite earning a second career nomination at the world’s most prestigious music ceremony.
The Grammys are scheduled for this Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, celebrating music released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025.
Kenzo received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for Hope and Love, a collaboration with Swedish artist Mehran Martin.
The category is stacked with heavyweight contenders, including Burna Boy (Love), Davido and Omah Lay (With You), Ayra Starr and Wizkid (Gimme Dat), and Tyla (Push 2 Start).
Confirming his absence, Kenzo cited pressing personal commitments.
“We thank God that I was nominated for the Grammys, but I have a lot I am handling at the moment, which will not permit me to attend the ceremony,” he said, adding that the matters are urgent but expected to be resolved positively.
Despite missing the red carpet, Kenzo said he will still be represented on the night through his international management team.
This marks Kenzo’s second Grammy nomination. In 2023, he was nominated alongside Matt B for Gimme Love in the Best Global Music Performance category, an award that went to Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode for Bayethe.
